Larissa Reihberg-Laaksonen
Qualifications

BE (Chemical) (Hons)

Larissa is a process engineer with a BE in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. Larissa enjoys working as a hands-on engineer and has previous experience in water treatment, manufacturing, and the food industry.

Larissa gained experience in Product Development, Health & Safety as well as Research & Development when she worked on several pilot water treatment plants. Some of her responsibilities included jar testing, development of Operation and Maintenance Manuals, HAZOPs, and validation experiments. The validation of one pilot plant had successful removal of pathogens from groundwater with an LRV of 4.6 for E. coli, 6.7 for MS2, and 4.6 for Crypto. Larissa has a keen eye for detail with experience in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and auditing enabling her to set the highest standards for herself and the projects she manages. She has a strong focus on process improvement and innovative solutions which minimise waste and improve cost-effectiveness in her engineering projects.

Her passion for water treatment solutions sparked when receiving a scholarship through UNSW to go on a water treatment project at Yangon Technological University (YTU) in Myanmar. Larissa locally sourced materials to build laboratory size media filters for demonstration purposes as well as facilitated presentations and workshops for chemical engineering students at YTU. The experience made her appreciate the importance of clean water and the impact it can have on those who don’t have this privilege. In her upcoming projects at CWT, Larissa wishes to have a positive effect on the environment and contribute to improving our community’s most essential resource.
