Crescent Head WTP Design & Construct

Overview

Building on CWTs past experience and expertise with Crescent Head WTP, CWT was engaged by Eire Construction to provide process support for the design and construct for Crescent Head WTP.

  • In conjunction with Eire, BG&E, Alliance Automation

The existing WTP (1987) is supplied via the Crescent Head Water Supply Scheme. This scheme consists of three production bores with a basic treatment system.

Project summary

  • Treating raw water supplied from three existing bore pumps at Maguire’s Crossing Borefield.
  • Delivering a peak daily treated water capacity of 1.08 ML/day.
  • Detailed design and construction of a new water treatment plant with infrastructure for water treatment, storage, pumping and distribution.
  • Construction of a new pipeline to the Crescent Head wastewater treatment plant for the transfer of wastewater.
  • Commissioning of the new plant and removal of the old infrastructure.

Need

The existing water treatment plant has increasingly been susceptible to equipment failure and deemed approaching “end of life”. As a relatively simple treatment process with only chemical dosing processes Council are replacing this WTP to provide safe, reliable and compliant drinking water for the community of Crescent Head into the future.

Solution

Construct a new water treatment plant on the existing site with a production capacity of 1.08 ML/ 22 hours. This includes pretreatment of bore water, clarification, filtration, disinfection and final water storage.

Benefit

Improved water quality and reliability of drinking water to Crescent Head. Ensure ongoing compliance with ADWG.
