Need

LCR required a new STP that could consistently deliver recycled water suitable for irrigation across the resort with minimal restrictions. The existing STP was ageing, inefficient, and required excessive operational support and maintenance.

LCR also wanted to re-activate an existing irrigation network to improve sustainability outcomes by irrigating landscaped areas, including the golf course. Given the nature of the resort, LCR required unrestricted public access and no irrigation holding periods—meaning the recycled water quality needed to meet requirements for unrestricted irrigation.

Solution

CWT provided Owner’s Engineer services for a packaged STP design-and-construct delivery model.

The contracted supplier delivered the packaged treatment plant and managed subcontracted civil and electrical scopes, including:

  • Access road and site works
  • Building/shed works
  • Piping and connections
  • Electrical installation and major site electrical upgrades, including easements

CWT supported the project to ensure the treatment performance and final recycled water quality would be suitable for unrestricted access irrigation.

Benefit

The project was designed to meet LCR’s performance requirements, providing a fit-for-purpose, highly automated STP that is easier to operate and maintain. At the time of writing, construction was about to commence.
