Need

There was a vacant Treatment Coordinator position at Mackay Regional Council that required attention due to recruitment of new operators needing support, existing operators requiring upskilling, implementation of new systems, and procedures requiring review and update.

Solution

CWT was able to provide the Council with a solution that could fulfill the demand of a sprawling LGA with various water and wastewater treatment facilities.

A Senior Technician backfilled the Treatment Coordinator position and supported the water and wastewater operations teams with training, procedural review, risk mitigation, instrument maintenance, dangerous goods signage and documentation, and other general operator support.  Additional support is being provided to assist operator progression through RTO certification and tailored training to meet individual operator learning requirements.

Benefit

CWT supported Mackay Regional Council in their investment in upskilling workers through promotion and provision of personalised training, ensured standards and safety compliance during a transition period, and responded to evolving and local needs in water, wastewater and recycled assets for a 12 month period.
